07 Resources

Answers & acronyms.

The stuff carriers ask us before they sign — and a cheat sheet for all the letters on the forms.

How long does DOT registration take? +
Most USDOT numbers are issued within 24–48 hours. MC Authority requires a 21-business-day FMCSA publication period before becoming active.
Do I need DOT and MC, or just one? +
Interstate for-hire carriers of regulated freight typically need both. Private carriers and purely intrastate operators may only need USDOT. We'll confirm on your consultation.
What's the difference between IRP and IFTA? +
IRP (International Registration Plan) handles apportioned plate registration by jurisdiction. IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) handles fuel-tax reporting across those jurisdictions. Most interstate carriers need both.
Do you handle compliance in all 50 states? +
Yes. We process federal filings and state-level IRP, IFTA, Secretary of State, permits, and WDT registrations nationwide, including specialty states (KY, NM, NY, OR, CT).
What happens in a new-entrant safety audit? +
FMCSA reviews your safety management systems within 12 months of USDOT issuance — driver qualification files, HOS records, drug/alcohol program, and vehicle maintenance logs. We prepare every document in advance.
Can I pay on a per-service basis? +
Yes. Every service on the ledger can be purchased individually. Packages are offered as a convenience, not a requirement.
